Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort in Utah contacted Explore Green™ to create a “weekend of discovery” with the themes of “Ocean Meets Mountain” and water resources on the planet. For two days over Labor Day weekend, Explore Green™ designed and implemented a multi-level series of events for a range of interests from environmentalists, business people and families. The eco-event included biologist led hikes into the Wasatch Mountains to understand watersheds and the connection between melting snow to streams to the ocean. Children and families then got to do experiments, view a futuristic “Exosuit” diving apparatus and sit in a deep-sea submersible. An all-star panel of experts: Jean-Michel Cousteau, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Dr Sylvia Earle, marine biologist Dr. Richard Murphy, submersible scientist Dr. Phil Nuytten and ocean explorer and physician Dr. Joe MacInnis, collaborated in an engaging, two-hour panel discussion on the world water system and the importance of ocean exploration. Both Cousteau and Earle provided their own presentations including strong audio-visual components. The finale was a world premiere of “Jean-Michel Ocean Adventures: Voyage to Kure,” a PBS series special that would soon be featured at The White House. The restaurant at Sundance even created a sustainable menu for the weekend, guided by Explore Green™ experts. Redford personally attended the events. All events played to sold-out audiences. |
